DIY Milwaukee Impact Holder – Easy & Budget-Friendly Woodworking Project
At my workshop, I often ran into a small but annoying problem — I didn’t have a proper holder for my Milwaukee impact driver. As a result, it was always lying around, taking up bench space and sometimes even falling. So, I decided to fix the issue in the simplest and most affordable way possible — by making a custom DIY wood tool holder myself.
This project not only helped me save money, but it also gave me a chance to build something practical while improving my woodworking skills.
Step-by-Step: How I Built My DIY Tool Holder
First of all, I chose to keep things simple. I used a piece of 4×4 wood that I already had in my workshop. Instead of buying expensive holders, I figured I could easily create one that fit my impact driver perfectly.
Next, I used a drill to make a hole in the wood where the head of the impact would sit. After that, I carefully adjusted the opening by hand with a saw so that the tool fit snugly. Because of this, the impact now slides in and out easily but stays secure when not in use.
To enhance the look, I decided to burn the wood surface using a propane torch. This gave it a darker, more rugged finish — and honestly, it looks great. Additionally, the burned wood matches the rest of my workshop design really well.
Finally, I mounted the holder to the wall using basic screws. After tightening everything down, I tested the fit — and it worked flawlessly. Now, the Milwaukee impact driver has its own stylish and functional spot in the shop.
Why Build Your Own Tool Holder?
There are plenty of reasons to try a DIY tool storage project like this.
For example:
It’s cheaper than buying branded holders
You can customize it to your exact needs
It adds a personal, handmade touch to your workshop
It helps sharpen your basic woodworking skills
Moreover, making your own impact holder gives you more control over how your tools are organized — and keeps your workspace clean and efficient.
