Junkyard Gold: Discovering a Rare 1981 BMW E23 | TheWildMoto
If you’re into junkyard car finds or love the thrill of uncovering forgotten classics, this story is for you. Recently, I visited a local junkyard just for fun. At first, I didn’t expect much — maybe a few old parts or shells. However, what I found turned out to be something special.
While exploring, I stumbled across a rare and nearly complete 1981 BMW E23. For any classic BMW enthusiast, this is a dream come true. As a result, I decided to document the entire experience for my YouTube channel, TheWildMoto.
A Rare BMW E23 in the Junkyard? Yes, Really.
To be honest, junkyard visits are usually hit or miss. Sometimes, you walk away empty-handed. Other times, you find something amazing. In this case, it was the latter. While walking through rows of rusted-out cars, I suddenly noticed a familiar shape. It turned out to be a BMW E23 — the very first generation of the legendary 7 Series.
Surprisingly, the car was about 95% complete. The body was still solid, and many of the key components were intact. In other words, this wasn’t just a pile of junk — it had serious potential.
Why the 1981 BMW E23 Is So Special
To give you some context, the BMW E23 was built between 1977 and 1986. It was BMW’s first true luxury sedan, and it introduced features that were well ahead of its time.
Because of that, spotting one in a junkyard — especially in such good condition — is incredibly rare. Therefore, for fans of classic car restoration, this was an exciting and valuable find.

Of course, I filmed everything for my channel, TheWildMoto. In the video, I take you up close to the car, show what’s still intact, and explain why this model is so significant.
Final Thoughts: The Junkyard Adventure Continues
In the end, what started as a casual trip became one of my most exciting finds yet. Sometimes, the best discoveries come when you least expect them. That’s why, if you’re into barn finds or classic car hunting, junkyards are always worth exploring.
Furthermore, this experience reminded me why I started my channel. Sharing these unexpected moments helps connect with others who love cars as much as I do.
